Grover and Redford's bio's are going to be a bit lengthy, but I think it is important for all to see what these kitties had to endure prior to finally landing with us a Big Sid's. As always, I find the humor the their ghost writer Andrea delightful, as she is able to infuse humor into a heartfelt rendering of their origins...and futures. "So as promised, we do have a double dose of positively feline handsomeness for you. I wish I was just sending this to brag about our crop of cuties, but alas...it's yet another case of felines with FIV). Both came to us as strays (shocker!) and came in less than a week apart, Grover coming from a single house residence, and Redford having been found in one of the mobile home communities (where i would say about 70% of our strays come from). Grover was caught in a live trap by an asshat of a guy, whom I wanted to give a swift kick in the _____ (fill in the blank). He left Grover in his trap for two days before bringing him in, and then painted Grover as this incredibly 'wild' cat who 'would go toe to toe with a shovel,' among other things. Now to be fair, we have not really had a chance to work with Grover, so I don't know his true temperament. But, when we took him in and went to put him in his kennel from the live trap, he was able to jump out and be loose in our holding area. Heidi called me back to catch him in the net and put him in his new home....I've wrangled my fair share of ferals - normally when they are out of the trap, they are climbing the walls and flying through the air, looking for any chance they can to escape - but not Grover. When I came back to the holding area, he was quietly sitting on a shelf that we had resting on the floor, behind a table...I put the net out, just to be on the safe side, and Grover literally jumped in...made me look like a frickin' genius. :D In his kennel, he is eager for attention and affection- when you walk in the room, he will call to you and make eye contact and then rub along the walls of his kennel...I have rubbed his furry little noggin (though he doesn't like his jowls messed with- that much I can say). I try to spend some time with him each day...he's a doll, who deserves a better hand than what life has dealt him. But, like I said, we haven't really had a chance to get him out and see how he is. I'd say he has a 'wary' look in his eyes (I would too after dealing with the clown that brought him in!) Redford is definitely the super stud heartbreaker- but maybe that's because I have a thing for orange foofy boys! He's a total loverboy....so incredibly affectionate. He's very chatty, and if you have some wet food, the boy will be your friend for life! He's been very chill and laid back in his kennel....I think he has a true appreciation for finally being inside where it's warm, food is always available, and of course, there are people to dote on him and adore him (he's something of a ham!). When he came in, the flea bites on him were HORRID...I've never felt a kitty that 'bumpy'....seriously, if someone were able to read Braille, I'm sure they could pick up all of Redford's life story in his series of flea bites and irritations. Both of these sweethearts came with battle scars a plenty- scratches, cuts, etc. They both should be regal looking poster kitties, but instead, sported dirty and matted fur. I wish, when people think about letting their cats outside, they could see these boys and realize what exactly they are potentially putting their cats into. It just breaks my heart - Redford should be the ham in a growing family, with little kids whom he grows right along with... Grover should be keeping a lonely grandma company...instead, they have both dealt with the horrors of being outside and having to survive...and now are in a kennel environment, confused about what each new day will bring. :( This handsome pair also issued in the seasonal push for intake....our kennels are now all full, and every day, the calls for strays and surrenders is mindboggling. (Another soapbox moment...I wish people, especially those in positions of authorit
