Domestic Short Hair - Brown - Scrat - Extra Large - Adult - Male
When I first met this scruffy, subdued FIV fella, who came to us as a transfer from Focus on Ferals, I was quite taken with how BIG he was on the outside, but how dainty and demure he was on the INSIDE. And when I examined him closer, in preparation for getting him program ready, I discovered just why this beautiful ticked brown tabby was as head shy and insecure as he was; life had not been good to him at all:( Prior to his rescue on June 6th, xxxx, I don't thin anyone paid one bit of attention to this poor cat who was running with a feral colony, but was totally tame. All of his canine teeth were either missing or broken down to the gums and his tongue had been lacerated in probably the same accident that took his choppers from him; no wonder he was had shy! Couple his somewhat squirrely demeanor with his remarkable ticked tabby markings, and donning him with the name 'Scrat" seemed like a no-brainer (thank you Ice Age!) Once Scrat (born in the summer of xxxx) was bathed, brushed out, ears and teeth were cleaned and he was given a mani-pedi, he seemed a bit more comfortable in his own skin. I completely won him over with canned food, so to ease any anxiety he felt when I approached, I lavished on him endless bowls of yumminess and soon we were BFF's. Since he was quite a pack-cat before coming to Sids, he was in 7th heaven when he found out he had dozens upon dozens of other cats to cozy up next to. And since he is an unassuming, gentle soul, he was very easily accepted into our famous furry family with ease. I shudder at the thought of what happened to Scrat before a kindhearted person took pity on him and got FOF involved. Sometimes I am thankful I don't know their life-stories prior to their placement with us, but other times I wish I had all of the pieces of the puzzle fit together so I could better understand their gentle psyches. In any case, our job here at Big Sid's is to provide a peaceful existence for those who have been downtrodden and tossed aside; and by the looks of how comfortable he was within mere days of his arrival, I would say we are doing a darned good job! Scrat is safe, sound and surrounded by love, until one fine day when we find him a fur-ever home of his own!
