Back in December of xxxx, we received a few emails from our friends at Wishbone Pet Rescue in Allegan requesting help for an adorable FIV positive fella they had taken in as a stray. Stunning but yet unsure of himself and a wee bit shy, Dewey ended up homeless and helpless, with a bleak future ahead of him if we couldnt step in and take him. As is typical with out head count at Big Sids, we were full and then some at the time of the request, but with the help and housing provided by Gina Marvin of Focus on Ferals, he was in no imminent danger of being euthanized. So, we had some wiggle room, as she was able to hang on to Dewey as long as we neededphew! On February 26th, xxxx, we were finally able to open the doors of our sanctuary to this dashing boy, who was born in December of xxxx. Gina did a good job of putting some meat on his bones, and although still quite reserved even though she lavished attention on him every chance she got, he acclimated to his new surroundings pretty well. He wasnt one to initially leap and bound at you when you came through the door, but he was very appreciative and accepting of attention and affection. And over time, he became one of our most social and sought after residents! He really likes hanging out with the other cats, and since he is such a gentle soul, he isnt a bite risk, so placing him into a non-FIV home is a very viable, wonderful adoption option! Be warned though, he IS a drool risk, as when delightful Dewey is all comfy cozy on your lap, the water-works start pouring out:) When I look at the cute face of this delightful cat, I am so appreciative that those of us in the rescue community work together to save the kitties in need; it often does take a village to be able to give a cat a home:) More than anything, we want Dewey to be able to claim one for his very own, so we will work diligently at finding him the purr-fect place to rest his lovely head fur-ever!
