JAPANESE SCREEN BOX DRAGON GEISHA ART FIGURINES DOLL BRASS CUP HIBACHI KIMONO
This sale is for a LOT OF TWENTY FOUR (24) JAPANESE MOTIF ITEMS:
USED- JAPANESE MINIATURE CART, CANDLE, SCREEN, BOX,
These four items are in fair condition with some scratching and wear and tear. The candle appears un-used. The small black "stand up folding screen has two other panels and a missing hinge that I found after I took the photos; they have a similar design to what is shown. The small cart wheels do not turn and is made of black plastic. The black box with the lid seems to be the treasure of this group. It is approximately 7" X 41/2" X 4" and is in pretty good condition. It is unique and would have some tabletop "LOOKS" to it.
USED- JAPANESE BRASS FAN VINTAGE FLYING DRAGON
This is a nice piece approximately 11" wide and X 7" high. This would work as a smart choice for many different decors. It has a dragon design on one side and is smooth on the other. It appears to be in great condition with some discoloration as it needs some "BRASSO" to bring back the shine. The subject is a Japanese dragon figure. I did not find any manufacturer, artist or other information on the piece.
USED- JAPANESE CERAMIC DISHES TEA CUPS SAUCERS
This group of 7 pieces consists of three small plates, kind of like salad plate size, one decorative plate made out of some type of woven wood, two square black teacups and just one matching black teacup saucer. The items in this group appear to be in average condition with some deterioration of the gold coloring on the outside border. The subject matter is Japanese bird and flowers. I did not find any manufacturer, artist or other information on the wooden plate or the three salad plates. The tea cups and saucer have markings of "Hand Painted LENWILE CHINA AA ARDALT JAPAN No. xxxx".
USED- JAPANESE den-den daiko HAND DRUM VINTAGE ARTIFACT PELLET
Here is some information I found: The den-den daiko (??????) is a Japanese pellet drum. It has two heads and is suspended on a rod, with beads or pellets hanging on threads on either sides of the body of the drum. The drum sounds when it is turned on its axis from side to side, causing the beads to strike the heads of the drum. The drum is found in other cultures as well, including, but not limited to Tibet, Mongolia, India, China, Taiwan and Korea. It is often used in religious ritual, but it is often sold as a children's toy or as a noisemaker at festival stalls.
It appears to be in average condition with no damage. The subject appears to be Japanese children, horses and drums. I did not find any manufacturer, artist or other information on the piece. I do not know how old it is.
USED- JAPANESE GEISHA GIRL ARTWORK
This group consists of two wall hangings of Japanese Geisha Girls, fabric, embroidered figures and black wood frames. Each hanging is approximately 11" wide by 25" high. They both are in average condition and have minor nicks and scratches on the frames. They appear to be professionally mounted with paper and hanging wire on the backside. There is a business name stamped on the paper backside of a Jonesboro, Arkansas firm. That makes me think that the original owner acquired the items and had them framed later. I did not find any manufacturer, artist or other information on the piece.
USED- JAPANESE NETSUKE RED FIGURINES BLACK BASE
The four items in this group appear to be in great condition. The material for the figures appear to be some kind of resin or plastic and the base looks kind of like slate with a quick glance but is most likely a resin or plastic too. I did not find any manufacturer, artist or other information on the piece and I do not know how old they may be. Other than that, I believe the only thing missing is a new owner. The different coloration of the base is due to my pictures being taken when the item was still wet after washing. This is a nice piece approximately 7 1/2" X 4 1/2" with attractive red and black contrasting colors.
USED- JAPANESE NETSUKE RED FIGURINES MIRRORED PEDESTAL BASE
The four items appear to be in great condition. the material for the figures appear to be some kind of resin or plastic and the base looks kind of like slate with a quick glance but is most likely a resin or plastic too. I did not find any manufacturer, artist or other information on the piece and I do not know how old they may be. This is a piece is approximately 8 1/2" X 4 1/2" with attractive red and black contrasting colors and accented by the mirror that the figurines sit on..
This is some information I found:
netsuke (???) [netsuke] are miniature sculptures that were invented in 17th-century Japan to serve a practical function (the two Japanese characters ne+tsuke mean "root" and "to attach").
Netsuke, like the inr? and ojime, evolved over time from being strictly utilitarian into objects of great artistic merit and an expression of extraordinary craftsmanship. Such objects have a long history reflecting the important aspects of Japanese folklore and life. Netsuke production was most popular during the Edo period in Japan, around xxxx-xxxx. Today, the art lives on, and some modern works can command high prices in the UK, Europe, the USA, Japan and elsewhere. Inexpensive yet faithful reproductions are available in museums and souvenir shops.
USED- JAPANESE BRASS HIBACHI ASH TRAY GRILL BOWL
This item is approximately 11" diameter and about 8" high. This is quite a unique item that makes you want to pick it up and look at the details. Almost any decor would support such an item whatever it is. It appears to be in really nice condition, I have not polished it or anything, just cleaned the dust off of it. I suppose some "BRASSO" polish would make it really shine. The subjects in the figures are a bearded dragon character on the legs with rats, cattle, tigers, rabbits, snakes, roosters, horse's sheep, dragons, bulls, pigs, goats and dogs. I did not find any manufacturer, artist or other information on the piece, nor do I know how old it is.
These Japanese motif items advertised were privately owned for a number of years and came from the estate of an elderly female widow.
Look at the pictures to see other features. The pictures are accurate representations of the condition and are part of the description. Of course there is some normal wear and tear, but everything used is that way.
More pictures available upon request.
